This ingenious integrated touch screen computer has special “all in the head” design built-in, which means it can be used as a computer top unit, a wall-mount or a pole-mounted computer. You will find that both the counter top base and VESA wall mount brackets are supplied as standard equipment with the Viper V.
There are many processor variants available, the Viper V comes standard with an Intel 1.6 GHz Celeron 420 Conroe Core processor. This system board uses the Intel LGA775 socket and it can be upgraded or ordered with a wide range of single or dual core processors.
The Viper V unit also has a very unique feature when using the 420 processor, this is called the “Green Mode”. This mode is set by a simple BIOS setup item, and when the unit is in this “Green Mode” the processor speed is reduced to 1 GHz and fans are turned off. This, in effect, turns the Viper V into a fan less system for thin-client use and also reduces the Viper V power consumption by 25%, thereby reducing the Viper V carbon footprint which is already very small.
Accessibility is key to machine maintenance e and upgradeability, the following is of important Viper V features:
- Upgrades to the memory modules can be easily done by simply removing two screws on the back cover.
- A complete motherboard upgrade can be carried out in less than two minutes.
- The two quick change hard disk drives are easily accessible, housed on a slide-in drive bay that allows the drives to be hot swappable.
- The footprint of the Javelin Viper V is particularly compact making it ideal for the space conscious retailer.
The Viper V offers thick or thin-client or server configurations which support standard Microsoft operating systems Vista, XP, WePOS, CE.NET, and XPe, further demonstrating its versatility. The Viper V is equally proficient with the many flavors of Linux.
